The NeuroID students went to the SFN\u2019s Neuroscience 2023 in Washington D.C. to share their research at the convention. <\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the 17 student members of the NeuroID program traveled to Washington, D.C. to present their individual research posters at the Neuroscience 2023<\/a>, event hosted by the Society for Neuroscience (SFN). The students were accompanied by the NeuroID principal investigators, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Garc\u00eda Arrar\u00e1s and Dr. Carmen Maldonado-Vlaar. All members presented their posters during the Diversity Poster Session, and four of them – in addition to their initial presentation – displayed their posters during the main event.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Society for Neuroscience<\/strong> is a professional society whose members conduct research about the brain and nervous system. The SFN hosts an annual conference in which scientists from around the world gather to share their research. The Neuroscience annual convention serves as a forum for scientists and students to present their research work and network with other scientists. This year, Neuroscience 2023<\/strong> took place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. <\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The students of the NeuroID program had the opportunity to attend the Neuroscience 2023 event during its first week. All 17 members of the program presented their research posters on November 11 at the Diversity Fellows Poster Session<\/strong><\/em>, a session that allows \u201ctrainees to present their research while networking with fellow neuroscientists\u201d, according the official SFN web page. The SFN offers a series of programs that encourage underrepresented and diverse neuroscientists to explore and immerse themselves in the world of Neuroscience research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UPR NeuroID project is sponsored by the ENDURE resource (Enhancing Neuroscience Diversity through Undergraduate Research Education Experiences) for diverse undergraduate scientists offered by the SFN. By being part of the ENDURE initiative, the NeuroID students were offered a space at the Diversity Fellows Poster Session to present their research posters on the first day of the Neuroscience convention.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
